Our Mission

Neighbors Helping Neighbors,
One Meal At A Time

The mission of the Community Soup Kitchen of Torrington is to improve the quality of life nutritionally and socially by providing daily meals and support to Litchfield County Connecticut residents.

Our Funding

The Community Kitchen does not receive
any local, state, or federal funding.
Our operating budget is supported solely by the generous donations from the public and through grants.  We are currently raising money to purchase a new walk-in freezer that's needed for the Kitchen.

Our Volunteers

We are very fortunate to have
so many amazing volunteers

Our volunteers help out with all aspects of the operations of the kitchen. They truly are the driving force behind everything the Kitchen has accomplished, we couldn't do what we do without their help.

More than Just Meals

Nutritional Counseling

Not only do we serve healthy nutritious meals, we educate our clients on why nutrition is an important part of overall health.

Feed The Hungry

For many, the Soup Kitchen is the only place some of our community members get a hot meal. This includes families and children.

Essential Every Day Support

We often supply our clients with essential hygiene & clothing items such as toiletries, winter coats and day to day needs.

Nutritious Food

Thanks to our generous Community partners, our role is to ensure no one goes hungry.  With help from Friendly Hands we are able to ensure our clients have food outside of our operating hours.

Medical Support

Most of our clients do not have health insurance, nor transportation to get to medical facilities.  We often bring in nurses and physicians to offer free testing and check ups.

Volunteer At The Community Kitchen

Whether you are looking to volunteer on an as needed basis or become a kitchen regular, we are always looking for responsible, reliable, and dedicated volunteers to help out with out with the operations of the kitchen. Duties include daily food preparation, serving, and clean up or weekend coverage.
